Sparrow 1.6 is Now in the Mac App Store
Sparrow for Mac 1.6 comes with one major feature: POP support, and a lot of improvements that will make your mail life even easier.
… ‘True’ Unified Inbox
Navigate in your unified Favorites, Sent, Drafts from your Unified account.
POP mail is the big new feature, but I’m more excited about the new unified inbox features. Starred items just became a lot more useful.
I switched to Sparrow right when it came out, and my only complaint is the startup time, and this update is a huge improvement.
If you haven’t switched to Sparrow, you are really missing out. Luckily they have a lite version for you to try.
Sparrow 1.2 for iPhone Released & Push News
Sparrow 1.2 for iPhone is here and comes with 4 new features:
- Message navigation
- Edit and create folder/labels
- Landscape composing
- Fluent in 9 languages
I’ve been using nothing but Sparrow since it was released, and this update makes it even better. I love being able to swipe between emails.
About Push
You were more than 16 000 helping us on our Apple quest to get the VoIP privilege. We can’t thank you enough for your support. Unfortunately, Apple has confirmed that they are not willing to do any exception to the rule and that Sparrow will NOT be granted with the privilege.
This means we’ll have to do Push on our side and that it will be integrated as a yearly subscription into Sparrow’s future update.
I really thought Apple was going to allow Sparrow to use the existing VoIP APIs, hopefully this will change when iOS 6 is announced. If not, a yearly subscription is a fair solution for people who really need native push notifications.
I recommend using Boxcar for important notifications.
Mac App Store Version of Records on Sale for 99 Cents

Records is a music app for the Mac that emphasizes cover art and easy queue management. It supports music, podcasts, audiobooks, and playlists. Last.FM users have the option to scrobble their music.
The app uses the iTunes library so there is no importing or duplicating files, and the best part is: iTunes doesn’t have to be running to play music. Records uses almost no CPU or memory.
Records normally sells for $14.99, but is on sale for $0.99 (today only).
